Hi Team!
Rebecca here to recap our first team "friday field trip" of 2016. Daisy and Christian from GatherSF generously hosted us at their adorable shop in Hayes Valley. Since opening their shop nearly two years ago, Daisy and Christian have sold the work of many local artisans, including many SF Etsy team members! Prior to opening their shop, Daisy ran a successful Etsy shop, Lanyapi where she has nearly 3,000 sales of her vintage style handmade jewelry pieces. Daisy also shared with us the meaning behind her Etsy shop name "Lanyapi." Her parents are both from New Orleans where is it is common for shop keepers to throw in a little "lagniappe". A lagniappe (/ˈlænjæp/ lan-yap) is a small gift given to a customer by a merchant at the time of a purchase (such as a 13th doughnut when buying a dozen), or more broadly, "something given or obtained gratuitously or by way of good measure."[1] I love that Daisy decided to take something so personal from her past and make it come alive in her Etsy shop! Christian and Daisy both spent many weekends at craft events all over the Bay Area and were so excited to finally find a permanent home. Thanks to everyone who came out and mingled, shopped, crafted (Daisy and Christian had a bath salts mini-workshop) and popped out of your studios for the afternoon! I hope to see you all at the next Friday Field Trip on Friday, March 25, 2016 at Marion & Rose - get your ticket here.
