Since 2009, artists from all over the world have participated in the Inktober drawing challenge. Artists share an ink drawing each day during the month of October, based off a list of single word prompts. That's 31 drawings in 31 days! According to its creator Mr. Jake Parker, anyone can participate in the Inktober challenge - you just have to "Pick up a pen and start drawing!" The Inktober challenge helps every online participant to focus on improving their personal artistic abilities, and in doing so, will develop strong working habits. Everyone can see the Inktober illustrations on Instagram by searching hashtags like #Inktober, #Inktober2019 and for our teammates, search #InktoberSFetsy Artists! Are you curious yet? The official list is the most popular Inktober prompt list and it is a great place to begin but you are free to explore other prompt lists! We've seen artists, in the past, choose to do 31 days of a multitude of themes, like "31 mythical creatures," or "31 portraits" for example. Search for 2019 prompt lists online and pick a challenge that suits you best! It's really up to you to get as creative as you want. Creator, Jake Parker, says it is ok to take it easy if you need to, "You can do it daily, or go the half-marathon route and post every other day, or just do the 5K and post once a week." The goal is to get you illustrating, and to be part of an artistic community challenging themselves and pushing their talents during the month of October. What you Can do on Instagram to Support the Inktober Artists: 1. Search the team's hashtag #InktoberSFetsy during the month of October. Follow these artists, comment on their drawings, and most of all "Like" the Inktober drawings they share 2. Check out the official #Inktober and #inktober2019 hashtags and discover some amazing new artists from all over the world to follow. 3. Be encouraging. Tell them what you like about their drawings! Your comments and support will really inspire the artists through out this month-long challenge. 4. Have fun following Inktober and consider the challenge yourself - this year or maybe someday in the future!
