Love and Pride

Stonewall Inn, Greenwich Village, New York
On a hot summer night in New York City in 1969, the modern-day gay rights movement was born at a little neighborhood gay bar in Greenwich Village, called the Stonewall Inn. Back then, it was basically illegal to be gay - police would regularly raid gay bars, arrest the patrons, and post their pictures in local newspapers. This often resulted in being fired from their jobs, ostracized from their families, and further marginalized in society.

During a raid on the night of June 27th, 1969, the gay men, drag queens, transgender women, and lesbians at the Stonewall Inn decided enough is enough - they fought back against the police, and the ensuing rebellion lasted two days - and changed history. Exactly one year later, New York held the first official Gay Pride Week, with a march originating at the Stonewall. Now, all over the world, Gay Pride is celebrated in the month of June to honor the brave men and women who risked it all so we can love freely today.

2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion, and SF Etsy celebrates the fierce, funny, sweet, and queer in our community. Happy Pride, y'all!

    Welcome to SF Etsy

We're a collective of over 2700 Etsy sellers in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The SF Etsy Street Team is 100% in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

We condemn the violent acts, murders, crimes, and police brutality inflicted on the BIPOC community. These terrible and senseless acts must come to an end!

As a team, we will continue to share and raise awareness for our community of artists, specifically, black, indigenous, and people of color.

We urge you to make a purchase from a BIPOC artist, maker, dreamer and small business owner.

    ---------------------------
Like the San Francisco Bay Area in which it is located, SF Etsy is a vibrant and diverse community, full of creativity.

We strive to support and promote local Etsy sellers by sharing expertise and advice, hosting local shows and events, and providing a valuable network of local talent and resources.
